concert à deux qui s’intitule 3. Joëlle
Léandre vieillit vraiment bien, ne perdant rien de sa fougue, de sa pénétration
ou de son charme. L’accordéoniste Pascal Contet, qu’on connaît trop peu de ce
côté-ci de l’Atlantique, est un partenaire de choix qui ne se laisse pas
impressionner et qui rend créativité pour créativité, cédant le passage ici
pour mieux s’imposer là, les aigus de son instrument se mêlant à merveille aux
harmoniques de la contrebasse.
A fine duo concert called 3. Joëlle Léandre ages so well, losing nothing of
her drive, penetration, and charisma. Accordion player Pascal Contet, so little
known this side of the Atlantic, makes a great partner for her: he stands his
ground, countering creativity with creativity, wit with wit, effacing himself
here to better impose himself there, the higher register of his instrument
blending in marvelously with the harmonics of the doublebass.

duo entre une chanteuse d’origine portuguaise et un guitariste. Quatorze
chansons, la plupart coécrites entre eux. Voix ensoleillée, écriture agréable
et qui sait être audacieuse par moments, avec un petit quelque chose de sombre
qui me fait penser parfois au groupe Callers. Moins léger que ça en a l’air.
A fine duo between a Portuguese-born singer and a guitarist. Fourteen
songs, most cowritten by the two of them. Sunny voice, enjoyable songwriting
that knows how to be daring at times, with a little something darker lurking
that occasionally makes me think of the band Callers. Less light than it
sounds.

à Kangding Ray pour ce splendide album d’électronica intelligente, mordante et
bien sentie. Solens Arc est un vinyle double
(je n’ai eu qu’un transfert sur CDr) totalisant 50 minutes et proposant 12
pièces réunies en quatre suites. Cet agencement pas gratuit du tout donne à
l’album un flot remarquable où s’alternent rythmes insistants et ambiances
flottantes. Kangding Ray est arrivé à produire un disque alliant intelligence

Congratulations to Kangding Ray for this gorgeous album of brilliant,
edgy, heartfelt electronica. Solens
Arc is a double 12” vinyl (I only got a CDr transfer)
clocking in at 50 minutes. There are 12 tracks assembled into four side-long
suites. This thought-out sequencing gives the album a remarkable flow where
insisting beats alternate with floating ambiences. Kangding Ray has managed to
produce an album that is both intelligent and organic, something that’s easy to
