As a reviewer and radio show host, I listen to tons of music. Every day, I take down notes about the records I listen to. These notes are only thoughts caught on the fly, often on a first listen. Some of these records I will listen to again for possible inclusion on my radio shows or official reviewing on All-Music Guide, and some will never get a second hearing. Truth is, the AMG has grown less and less interested in obscure and experimental stuff, so this is my way of giving all these records a little more exposure, and highlighting my surprises and disappointments.

Allow me to emphasize: despite how it make look, my listening diary IS NOT a collection of thought-out reviews. It's a set of on-the-spot reactions. I reserve the right to change my mind, to be brutally honest, and even to digress. The only promise I make is to try to keep up with my listening schedule, no matter how hectic or eclectic it can get – heck, it's currently 5:30 AM and I'm writing this while listening to Henry Cow's Stockholm & Göteborg CD! – writing at least a line about every album I listen to.

That effort (and postage costs) deserves recognition.
