SUBOKO & HÜBSCH & SPIETH / k-horns (Schraum)

Un tubiste (Carl Ludwig Hübsch, un trompettiste (Roland Spieth) et un trio de percussionnistes-bruiteurs (Suboko), dans une courte ronde d’improvisation qui résulte en 38 minutes de pur plaisir. Ça tire, ça pousse, ça se chamaille, ça s’entend, ça s’invente, ça vit.  [Ci-dessous: La pièce “Ein”.]

One tuba player (Carl Ludwig Hübsch), one trumpet player (Roland Spieth), one trio of percussionists/noisicians (Suboko), engaged in a short bout of free improvisation that produces 38 minutes of pure pleasure. DUO BEIJA-FLOR / Envol (ind.)

Un duo flûte (Marie-Noëlle Choquette) et guitare classique (Charles Hobson) qui lançait récemment un premier disque autoproduit. Ce duo d’interprétation propose un répertoire où musique traditionnelle et musique classique se rejoignent. Au menu: Piazzolla, Miroslav Tadic, David Leisner et Ravi Shankar, dont le duo offre une lecture ravissante de “L’Aube enchantée”. Quant à la lecture de “Histoire du Tango” de Piazzolla, elle rappelle, étonnamment, les duos de guitare et flûte des frères Hackett (John et Steve). Des arrangements soyeux comme tout, une écoute agréable, une approche raffinée.

A flute (Marie-Noëlle Choquette) and classical guitar (Charles Hobson) duo who recently self-released their debut CD. This repertoire duo tackles works at the crossroads of traditional and classical musics. The playlist features Piazzolla, Miroslav Tadic, David Leisner, and Ravi Shankar’s whose “Enchanted Dawn” (“L’Aube enchantée”) is given a beautiful reading. As for the duo’s take on Piazzolla’s “History of Tango,” it is surprisingly strongly evocative of the flute/guitar duets of brothers John and Steve Hackett. Silky arrangements, an enjoyable listen, a sophisticated approach.

RADIOHEAD / The King of Limbs (Ticker Tape)

Court, le dernier Radiohead livre la marchandise, et même plus. J’aime cette tournure presque “sédentarisée” que prend leur pop électronique sur cet opus. Je réécouterai souvent.

Short, Radiohead’s latest studio opus delivers, and more. I like how their electropop seems to have sedentarized somewhat - it suits them well. I’ll be listening to this one again and again for a while.
