Morning Moon est un disque
divertissant, intelligent, accessible, qui pèche un tantinet par excès de
diversité – la pièce titre, placée à la toute fin, adopte une rythmique
électronique qui sied mal au reste de l’album. Autrement, Ecco la Musica
propose ici un joyeux mélange d’influences: tango, rythmes latins et
méditerranéens, jazz, servis sous formes de pièces aux mélodies accrocheuses et
aux arrangements raffinés, avec beaucoup d’humour.
Morning Moon is an entertaining, intelligent,
accessible record whose only downside is its slight overreach when it comes to
diversity – the title track tucked at the very end of the album gets into a
dance beat, a bad idea. Otherwise, the quartet Ecco la Musica delivers here a
cheerful blend of influences: tango, Latin rhythms, Mediterannean inflections,
jazz, rolled up into catchy tunes with sophisticated arrangements, and lots of
playfulness.

Premier album en cinq ans pour l’excellent groupe afrobeat
new-yorkais Antibalas. On a coupé dans le gras pour revenir à l’essentiel: des
grooves irrésistibles, des cuivres brûlants et des leçons de vie qui rappellent
les harangues du grand Fela Kuti. Et si vous ne les connaissez pas, aussi bien

This eponymous album is the New-York-based afrobeat
band Antibalas’ first release in five years. The group is back to the basics on
this one: irresistible grooves, hot horn licks, and life lessons strongly
reminiscent of the great Fela Kuti. If you don’t know these guys yet, you might
as well start with this new opus and work your way backward through their four
