J’ai réécouté plusieurs disques récemment chroniqués pendant la fin de semaine. Quelques (ré)impressions, avec des liens vers mes premières chroniques:

ADASIEWICZ/ERB/ROEBKE / Yulia’s Dream: Deuxième écoute concluante, qui a fait ressortir les éléments plus jazzés de cette longue impro libre. Intérêt soutenu, qualité de jeu exemplaire.

DAVID BEREZAN / Allusions sonores: Rien à dire de plus que ma première chronique. J’en maintiens chaque mot.

CHEVEU / Bum: Wow. De loin supérieur à 1000. Un plaisir fou à réécouter. Catchy, rigolo, ridicule, mais solidement écrit. Un moment fort de 2014.

FAMILY FODDER / Monkey Banana Kitchen: Sans rien enlever au travail de réédition de Staubgold, j’aurais voulu connaître ce groupe plus tôt! Fou, brilliant, éclaté et, encore une fois, très catchy.

THE GLOAMING / The Gloaming: Agréable, mais trop tranquille et mélancolique – on souhaiterait un peu de piquant ici et là.

LAVOIE/GUARDO / La licorne captive: Mes réserves fondent de plus en plus à chaque écoute. Grâce, élégance, adéquation parfaite entre la musique de Guardo et la voix de Daniel Lavoie.

SILVER MT. ZION / Fuck Off Get Free...: Magistral. J’adore. Émotions à fleur de peau, autant la joie exhubérante que le désespoir de fin du monde.

I gave a second (or third) spin to several recently-reviewed albums over the weekend. Some thoughts, with links to my original reviews:

ADASIEWICZ/ERB/ROEBKE / Yulia’s Dream: Conclusive second listen that made the jazzier elements of this long free improvisation stand up. Sustained interest, exemplary playing.

DAVID BEREZAN / Allusions sonores: Nothing more to say. I stand by every word in my original review..

CHEVEU / Bum: Wow. So much better than 1000. I’ve had a ball listening to this one again. Catchy, funny, ridiculous, strong songwriting. A highlight of 2014 so far.

FAMILY FODDER / Monkey Banana Kitchen: Not to take anything away from Staubgold’s reissuing work, but man do I wish I’d stumble upon this band earlier! Crazy, brilliant, off the wall and, once again, very catchy.

THE GLOAMING / The Gloaming: Enjoyable, but definitely too quiet and melancholy-driven. I wish these guys would spice things up here and there.

LAVOIE/GUARDO / La licorne captive: My reserves are melting away with every listen. Grace, elegance, and a perfect match between Guardo’s music and Daniel Lavoie’s vocals.

SILVER MT. ZION / Fuck Off Get Free...: Magnificent. I love it. Emotions brimming, from exuberant joy to apocalyptic despair.
