THOMAS BUCKNER, EDYTA FIL, ILIA BELORUKOV, ALEXEY LAPIN & JUHO LAITINEN / Bewitched Concert (Intonema)
Un court disque documentant une collaboration spontanée et imprévue entre trois Russes (Edyta Fil à la flûte, Ilia Belorukov au saxo alto et Alexey Lapin au piano droit), un Finlandais (le violoncelliste Juho Laitinen) et un Américain (le chanteur Thomas Buckner). Étrange, je viens d’écouter ce disque deux fois et il n’arrive pas à saisir mon attention autrement que brièvement. Côté sonore, il ne s’impose pas. Est-ce que tout se passe ni naturellement que rien n’accroche? Ou que rien de remarquable s’y passe?
A short record documentation a spontaneous and unplanned collaboration between three musicians from Russia (Edyta Fil on flute, Ilia Belorukov on alto sax, Alexey Lapin on upright piano), one from Finland (cellist Juho Laitinen) and one from the USA (singer Thomas Buckner). Strangely, I’ve listened to the CD twice in a row and it just won’t grasp my attention. Soundwise, it doesn’t impose. What’s going on? Is it that the music flows so naturally that it flows by unnoticed? Or that nothing remarkable actually happens?
MONTY ADKINS / fragile.flicker.fragment (Audiobulb Records - merci à/thanks to Dense Promotion)
L’électroacousticien Monty Adkins propose avec fragile.flicker.fragment une œuvre beaucoup plus ambiante que ce qu’il a déjà publié chez empreintes DIGITALes. With fragile.flicker.fragment, lectroacoustician Monty Adkins delivers a work much more into experimental ambient electronica territory than what he previously released on empreintes DIGITALes. ROBERT KUSIOLEK, ANTON SJAROV, KSAWERY WOJCINSKI & KLAUS KUGEL / Nuntium (Multikulti Project)
Un quatuor polonais d’improvisation libre. Belles affinités entre l’accordéon de Robert Kusiolek (qui utilise aussi des électroniques) et le violon d’Anton Sjarov. Une improvisation continue de 50 minutes, divisée en sept parties aux ambiances changeantes mais généralement tristounettes ou pensives.
A Polish free improvisation quartet. Nice affinities between Robert Kusolek’s accordion (he also uses electronics) and Anton Sjarov’s violin. A continuous 50-minute improvisation indexed in seven parts with varying moods, although mostly rather sad or pensive.
PRIMUS / Green Naugahyde (ATO Records/Prawn Song)
Premier album de Primus depuis 1999! Retour du batteur original! Le côté cabotin de Sailing the Seas of Cheese est de retour. Le côté groovy/direct de Frizzle Fry aussi. Dès la première écoute, je préfère ce disque à Antipop et The Brown Album. Longue vie au Primus nouveau-ancien-nouveau!
Primus’ first album since 1999! The original drummer is back! The zany side of Sailing the Seas of Cheese is back. So is the groovy/direct side of Frizzle Fry. On first listen, I prefer this record to Antipop and The Brown Album. Long live the new/old/new Primus!
