ALÍPIO C NETO & THELMO CRISTOVAM / Triatoma Infestans (Creative Sources)
A Brazilian duet (well, at least this was recorded in a Brazilian studio), two saxophonists using thoroughly mastered extended techniques. In 42 minutes, Triatoma Infestans weaves a sound world comprised between Evan Parker and John Butcher, between circular breathing and the careful exploration of the instrument’s resonant body. An inspired performance.

EXPO 70 / Sonic Messenger (Beta-lactam Ring Records)
Your Beard is Growing Psychic”. [Ci-dessous: Un extrait de “Your Beard is Growing Psychic.”]
A double LP from this improvised space rock collective. Justin Wright at the helm, with Matt Hill, David Williams and JAM contributing to several tracks each. Between a very lysergic Popul Vuh and a drummer-less Acid Mothers Temple (beatbox only). The long “Temple of the Shadow” develops a bit too slowly, though it offers an interesting journey. Otherwise, the best tracks are the shorter ones: “The Gathering” and “Your Beard is Growing Psychic.” Visually, a beautiful production, with gloriously psychedelic artwork.  [Below: An excerpt from “Your Beard is Growing Psychic.”]
